Vocabulary from Kalafina: 'oblivious' (The Garden of Sinners Chapter 1: Overlooking View ED1 (劇場版 空の境界 the Garden of sinners 第一章『俯瞰風景』 ED1)).
本当は空を飛べると知っていたから
羽ばたくときが怖くて風を忘れた
oblivious
何処へ行くの
遠くに見えるあの蜃気楼
いつか怯えながら
二人の未来を映して
よるべない心二つ寄り添う頃に
本当の悲しみがほら翼広げて
oblivious
夜の中で
真昼の影を夢見るように
きっと堕ちて行こう
光へ
いつか 君と 二人
夜を 朝を 昼を 星を 幻想を
夏を 冬を 時を 風を
水を 土を 空を
we go further in the destiny……
oblivious
側にいてね
静かな恋がほら始まるよ
いつか震えながら
二人の未来へ
oblivious
何処へ行くの
遠くへ逃げてゆく水の中
何て綺麗な声で
二人の未来を
歌って
本当
Noun, Adjectiveほんとう
truth, reality; really, truly
It was really delicious food.
本当 (ほんとう) means 'truth/reality' as a noun or na-adjective (本当のこと 'the truth'). With に it becomes an adverb meaning 'really/truly'. Often shortened to ほんと in casual speech. Similar to 本当に but more formal than まじで or ガチで.
は
Particletopic marker particle
This year, the cherry blossoms bloomed early.
Marks the topic of a sentence - what the sentence is about. Often implies contrast with other possible topics. Written as は but pronounced 'wa'. Differs from が which marks the grammatical subject.
空
Nounそら
sky; weather; air
The sky is clear.
Refers to the expanse above the earth. Can also mean 'weather' in some contexts like '空模様'.
を
Particledirect object marker particle
I solved a difficult problem.
Marks the direct object of a verb - what the action is done to. Written を but pronounced 'o'. Essential for transitive verbs. Also marks the space through which movement occurs.
飛ぶ
Verbとぶ
to fly; to jump
A bird is flying in the sky.
Commonly used for anything moving through the air, including birds, planes, or objects. It can also mean 'to jump' (often written as 跳ぶ) or metaphorically for 'to vanish' or 'to skip' (like pages).
と
Particleand, with (particle)
My opinion differs from my older brother's.
Connects nouns (A and B), indicates accompaniment (with someone), marks quotations, or shows comparison/contrast. Cannot connect sentences like English 'and'.
知る
Verbしる
to know, to be aware of
I don't know his name.
Unlike English 'know', 知る focuses on the moment of coming to know something. For states of knowing, use 知っている (know/have knowledge of). 知らない means 'don't know'.
から
Particlefrom, since, because
Since it's raining, I'll take an umbrella.
から has two main functions: marking a starting point in time/space ('from') and indicating reason or cause ('because'). When expressing reason, it's more casual than ので.
