Usage Notes

について follows a noun to mark the topic being discussed or studied. Similar to 'about' or 'regarding' in English. Can be replaced with に関して in more formal contexts. The particle に comes from the location marker, and つく means 'to be attached to', creating the meaning of 'attached to (a topic)'.
