My friend is very kind.

The most common first-person pronoun in modern Japanese, used by both men and women. More formal than 俺 (ore) or 僕 (boku). The reading わたくし is more formal than わたし.

Marks location of action (where something happens), means/tool (how/with what), material, reason, or scope. Different from に which marks location of existence.

Used for humans shedding tears. For animals, the same reading 'naku' is used but written as '鳴く'.

Used when requesting something or asking someone to do something. Derived from the verb 'くださる'.

Demonstrative pronoun indicating a place near the listener or previously mentioned. Part of the ko-so-a-do series (ここ、そこ、あそこ、どこ). Can also mean 'that point' in abstract contexts.
