Marks the topic of a sentence - what the sentence is about. Often implies contrast with other possible topics. Written as は but pronounced 'wa'. Differs from が which marks the grammatical subject.

I like to relax and watch movies at home on weekends.
Specifically used for watching entertainment like movies, plays, or sports, rather than just seeing something (見る).
やる
Verbto do; to give (to someone of lower status or animals)
I give food to the dog.
やる has multiple meanings: 'to do' (casual form of する), and 'to give' to someone of lower status, children, or animals. When meaning 'give', it's less polite than あげる.
