제1조(검사의 정원) 「검찰청법」 제36조제1항에 따라 검사의 정원을 2,292명으로 한다. <개정 2014.12.31>

제2조(검찰청별 검사 정원의 배정) 제1조의 검사 정원의 검찰청별 배정은 대통령령으로 정한다.

부칙 <제8716호,2007.12.21> 이 법은 공포한 날부터 시행한다. 다만, 이 법 시행 당시 법률 제7733호 검사정원법 일부개정법률에 따라 증원된 검사정원 220명 중 시행되지 아니한 140명과 이 법에 따라 증원되는 검사정원 135명을 합한 275명 중 85명의 증원은 2008년 1월 1일부터 시행하고, 95명의 증원은 2009년 1월 1일부터 시행하며, 95명의 증원은 2010년 1월 1일부터 시행한다.

부칙 <제12952호,2014.12.31> 이 법은 공포한 날부터 시행한다. 다만, 이 법에 따라 증원되는 검사의 정원 350명 중 90명의 증원은 2015년 1월 1일부터 시행하고, 80명의 증원은 2016년 1월 1일부터 시행하며, 70명의 증원은 2017년 1월 1일부터 시행하고, 70명의 증원은 2018년 1월 1일부터 시행하며, 40명의 증원은 2019년 1월 1일부터 시행한다.
